Created a great deal of interest when grown at the Scottish Horticultural Research Institute, yet it is very widely grown in Northern Italy. The 'spears' can be snapped off individually or all together. A British bred, Annual Purple Sprouting Broccoli for picking from June to winter, if sown in succession from spring onwards. A heavy yield of juicy tender stems can be picked from each plant over a 6 week period. The nutty sweet flavour and colour is best utilised in a wok as a stir fry vegetable or as a healthy raw salad ingredient.
